Pull marketing beats advertising, says Forrester report

70% of consumers trust brand recommendations from friends, 46% trust reviews from other customers, and only 10% trust advertising, according to a new Forrester study reported by Mashable. As a result of their research, Forrester suggests companies make use of branded content and other "pull" marketing strategies rather than ads, sponsorships, and product placements. Read more

Google not telling about Panda 25

We were surprised not to hear about the 25th Google Panda update on Friday, after Matt Cutts discussed it at SXSW earlier in the week. It turns out that the update likely landed after all, as Search Engine Land is reporting that Google has integrated Panda fully with their indexing process and will no longer confirm future updates. Twitter, Pinterest boost their analytics offerings

Social got more measurable for advertisers this week, with both Pinterest and Twitter announcing they are improving their analytics tools. Pinterest's updates will allow marketers to track what pins are clicked and repinned, and those with verified websites can track their site content on the social scrapbooking network. Meanwhile, Twitter improved its ad insights and now provides information about the interests of targeted segments as well as tweet engagement by secondary audiences. Read more
