SmarttNet uses three upstream providers. This ensures that if one provider experiences problems, our customers’ Internet traffic will automatically be re-routed to another provider to avoid downtime. Connection to multiple providers ensures that our Internet traffic is sent and received through the shortest path from and into our network. This results in faster connections and lower latency, which is critical for many business applications (e.g., file server, VPN, and VOIP). Our choice of upstream providers gives our customers excellent connectivity from our network to locations served by other telecommunication providers.

Our three upstream providers are each connected to a primary and backup Internet gateway BGP router. The backup BGP router automatically takes over routing traffic to and from the Internet if our primary BGP router fails.

Unlike our competitors who have been using Dynamic IP addresses, Smarttnet has decided to provide hard coded Static IP addresses with all of our Managed Internet Services. Our customers’ feedbacks prove that we are providing a more reliable and stable Internet connection when compared to other Internet Service Providers.

Dynamic IP addresses often result in unreliable and interrupted Internet services. Unlike Dynamic IP addresses, Static IP addresses have several advantages. For example it allows customers to host their own mail or web servers as well as make various applications, such as corporate databases, accessible over the Internet. It also allows businesses to connect branch offices, home users and remote employees to your Local Area Network (LAN). Moreover, Network administrators using PC Anywhere or a similar application can connect to office servers and maintain them from home. Also, remote users can easily authenticate their access to their office network. SmarttNet can help you set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN). This is an inexpensive way to securely connect outside users to your company’s internal network.

Network Security: Basic network security is applied throughout our network that includes Internet Protocol Routing and security options such as address or protocol blocking.

Web Server: Our web server is a high performance machine running both on UNIX & Windows platforms. The Web Servers are updated with latest programs to support a variety of web applications. We offer security certificates, programming and database support.

Mail Server: Our Mail Servers run on both UNIX and Windows platforms to give our customers better options in respect to features and stability. We offer Anti-Virus products from commercial vendors such as Symantec along with leading Open Source Anti-spam tools like SpamAssassin and idefence. Moreover, our Webmail solution uses the high-performance Squirrelmail and Imail applications.
